Family Update from January to June 2011

JANUARY 2011-
Dad and I had a relaxing day of New Year Celebration. We had dinner at home and then watched movies until the New Year of 2011 came rolling in.

Dad and I had a quiet celebration of his birthday on January 29th 2011. He enjoyed talking to our children and grandchildren and also the gifts that were given.

Dad and I had a dinner for Aunt Della, her son Bill and daughter in law Jo. It was a delightful evening. Aunt Della is so fun to be with. She is 97 years old and continues to have a good memory. It has been fun for me to reconnect with Bill. He is close in age to Mac and we have not had contact with him for many years. We always have a lively conversation with them. He loves politics and is right wing Republican.

FEBRUARY 2011-

We celebrated both Joseph's 12th Birthday and Jadyn's 2nd Birthday  which was February 17th on February 19, 2011 - We didn't have a camera with us so hopefully we can post pictures that Sean took. We really enjoyed being with all of Sean's family. Jadyn was a delight and we had fun watching her have cake and play with new toys. Joseph was really cute with Jadyn and he enjoyed his birthday celebration with her.
We also enjoyed being able to attend Joseph's ordination into the Aaronic Priesthood to the office of Deacon. Sean gave him a powerful blessing. It was a sweet moment. Pictures to come.

MARCH 2011
Gillian turned 20 on March 2nd. She had her own celebration. We did get to talk with her briefly.

Austin turned 12 on March 2nd.

We traveled up to Sugar City for the Weekend of March 5th and 6th to celebrate Austin's ordination to the Aaronic Priesthood and to the office of a Deacon. Travis gave Austin a marvelous blessing. It was fun to be with both Travis and James' Families.

Kason as Darth Vader

Christian turned 12 on March 15th 2011. We traveled up to Idaho Falls for the weekend of March 19th and 20th for Christian's ordination to the Aaronic Priesthood and to the office of a Deacon.  It was fun again with the two families and Amber's family also. James gave Christian an awesome blessing.

Brandon and Christina made a trip down to St. George to visit with his family for a few days the week of March 7th.  His Dad has terminal cancer and they wanted to spend some time with him. They did stay with us for a couple of days on March 11th through 13th 2011.

On March 25th we had Jed, Jessica and Baby Jadyn down for dinner. Jed also helped Grandpa  connect his speakers to the TV. We had a great evening and of course took tons of pictures of our sweet Great Granddaughter Jadyn.

APRIL 2011
We celebrated Easter with Sean and Mary's family on April 24th. We had a great dinner at their home and enjoyed visiting with everyone.

MAY 2011
Dad and I had put in our papers to serve a part time mission in March we waited for several weeks for the call and then found out that they had lost the paper work; but within a few days they found the paper work and we received our mission call on May 6th. We are serving a Inner City Project Mission. Our training started on Saturday May 14th and Sunday May 15th. We learned so many things about the church welfare system and how it functions. It is amazing all the resources that are used to help people who are in poverty become self reliant.
Tiffani had an Esophageal Wrap Surgery on May 12th. The surgery went well. She stayed overnight. I flew out on May15th to spend the week with her. She had a few rough days but slowly starting to feel a little bit better by the time I left. I enjoyed being with the children. Michael, Sarah, Kaitlyn were in school. I had a great time with Williams all day. He is such a character.

I arrived back to Salt Lake Airport on Sunday May 22nd. Dad picked me up and we dove to Idaho Falls to take care of James and Amber's children for the week. We had a great time with them. Christian and Taylor Jo were in school; but after school we had fun visiting, doing homework, and watching movies. Grandpa spent everyday in the study working from dawn to dawn. We served his meals in there and he would occasionally come out and spend a little while with us. Averi had Intense Therapy while we were there. Aides came each morning to help her learn how to dress; get her bag ready for school and eat. She would then go to school and when she came home the aides would return and help her unpack her bag; have a snack and then off with them for more social therapy. While I was there we bonded. At night she would sit on my lap. Also, our last day there she was able to feed herself with a spoon. She has really doing good in learning social skills and taking care of herself.

JUNE 2011
Dad and I celebrated our 44th Wedding Anniversary on June 13th. We started our celebration on Friday June 10th. We went to the movie, "17 Miracles". It was about the Willie and Martin Handcart company that came across the plaines and were caught in snowstorms and lost many of their companies by staving and or freezing to death. It was such a touching movie and Dad and I cried through the whole movie.
On Saturday, I was blessed not to have a headache. In the late afternoon we traveled into Salt Lake and had dinner at the Roof Restrauant in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. There had been a big birthday celebration for a few day in honor of a 100 years of the Hotel Utah, and now the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Our dinner was so yummy and we were seated so we could watch the sun go down behind the Salt Lake Temple. It was a very sweet and delightful evening.

On June 13th our actual Anniversary we had planned to do a couple of things but ended up helping a non member young woman that needed to see a Dentist for a severe toothache. We had miracle occur and we ended up taking her to the Dentist and then waiting to take her home. She spoke limited English; so it was interesting. I did record the story on my Living Waters Blog.
After we helped her we went to dinner at a Brazilian Restaruant. The food was yummy. We then came home and watched a movie. It has been a beautiful weekend for us.
I am going to include some pictures of Dad and I through the years.

Travis and Amanda with their family came down for the weekend of June 17th through 19th. Amanda's sister was geting married so they were busy with wedding activities. We enjoyed the few moments that we had with them.

We celebrated Father's day in the morning with Travis, and Amanda and children. They left after the 11 am meeting at our home ward. Dad loved talking with all of you during the day. We had a quiet Sabbath Day after returning home from the Miller Ward.
I had posted pictures of my father and I through the year's on my Living Waters Blog. I am sharing some of them here.

Lucky me, I had surgery on my ankle on June 20th. I had a plate and 6 screws removed from my right ankle. The surgery went well but for the first week I did too much and therefore it started to swell and I had to stay down more with my ankle elevated and ice on it.

We traveled up to Travis and Amanda's for Karli's baptism. Karli was baptised on Saturday evening at 6 pm. We had miss communicated the time; so the people that came had to wait about 45 minutes for us; we really felt bad about that. Karli is such a precious little spirit and her Travis gave her a sweet blessing after her confirmation.

We celebrated Sean's Birthday on June 27th. First of all we went to watch two baseball games of Joshua and Jeffery. We then went over to Sean's home for Pizza, cake and ice cream. We had a fun time with everyone.
