Dad and I attended the Dedication of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It was one of the most spiritual experiences we have had. Both of us cried through almost the whole dedication. The messages were so good; and the music was so touching.
Sister Allred from the General RS Presidency told a story of a Branch President in South America who took his wife and two young children to the temple to be married and sealed. The trip was difficult and long. They had saved money to be able to make the trip. They arrived safely and were sealed as a family forever. On the way home their two children became ill; they died and were buried by the rode home. Sister Allred asked them how they could possibly keep going and they told her that they knew that they would be together forever.
Elder told the story of a bus load of saints in South America who traveled for 2 1/2 day to get to the temple so they could complete having their families sealed and do some work for their ancestors. On their way there; the bus broke down and they thought they might not be able to continue. They were able to get it fixed and continue on; but were worried that the temple would be closed. The Temple President had sent someone out to keep a look out for them. Finally word came that they were coming; so they put the lights on and got workers to come in and these sweet people were able to work through the night to complete all that they had planned to do. They then had to travel back 21/2 days. Just writing about it causes tears.
President Monson told the story of a family in Togan who had 10 children and they had worked hard to save enough money to take just 4 of their children to the temple to be sealed. When Pres. Monson's daughter heard about it; she went to the Institute and raised enough money not only to have the rest of the children sealed to their parents; but many other families that could not afford to take their families to the temple.
Here we all are very close to temples and yet I know that we ourselves at times haven't taken advantage of going often. We pray that you will all set goals to attend the temple often; at least once a month.
Love to you All! Dad and Mom
PS Just an afterthought for our week of vacation. I shed a lot of tears and never had one early morning Headache. I consider that a blessing and a miracle in my life.
